A small local book store but it has an interesting selection of books.
My expecting wife and I were at The Bookstore today excited to be looking at the children's books for our first child. While we looked I commented a number of times that we should purchase books for our baby at The Bookstore instead of going on Amazon or to Barnes and Noble. As residents of the Berkshires, we value supporting local business. As we wandered through the store we stopped to look at "A Child's First Book of Trump" (highly recommended). As we read, my wife said that we should buy the book as a present for someone and then momentarily rested her iced tea on one of the tables. We were instantaneously jarred out of our enjoyment by a man who I assume is the owner rudely yelling across the store, "Let's not put drinks on anything!" Sadly, this is a familiar tale, an owner operating with an outdated customer service mindset and losing young and potential lifelong customers. We won't be going back to The Bookstore and we won't be buying hundreds of dollars worth of books from them over the years. We'd rather buy online that deal with rude owners who value preventing the possibility of a watermark on a table over a lifelong customer.
