My family has been going to the Apple Tree Inn for over 20 years. It is a truly special place!
We stayed at the inn this past weekend and are extremely disappointed as was the couple we met in the lobby attemtpting to get a cup of coffee, another time:). The room itself was dank, musty, with a filthy carpet, a retro tv whose remote was so tired it barely adjusted the sound or channels. Granted we were there for the beauty of the area and were not disappointed in this, however the grounds itself were ordinary and not well kept, very little signage to direct new comers ,( especially in the dark late at night),to the many different buldings on the grounds and actually allowed us to muster through the maze till we located our room. Ive stayed in many inns and have also worked in the industry, ( Apple Tree should see how Newport does it), and this is one of the worst experiences to date. This old Inn has forgotten the meaning of hospitality and I cant imagine the original founders could be very proud. Perhaps Apple tree employees need to be reminded as to who pays their wages, the consumer. There are too many disappointments to list, but, I think Ive made my point, stay somewhere else.
It's a beautiful Inn with multiple areas, inside and out, to comfortably relax quietly or with a group. The views from the Inn and from the pool area are spectacular. The food is delicious and plentiful. The owners, Joel and Sharon, are so warm and welcoming - the whole staff very accommodating. It's a great location for cycling, hiking, swimming and relaxing - with several quaint towns nearby with many interesting shops. Tanglewood is right across the street. It has been 22 years and we continue to love staying there!
Beautiful inn right across the street from Tanglewood and Kripalu Center. Only negative is that therefore you get Tanglewood traffic but as long as you check the schedule you'll be fine. Nice breakfast. No lunch or dinner on site. Nice outdoor pool overlooking the mountains. Gorgeous view.
Location is great: right next to Tanglewood and the Kripalu center. Service was fine. Continental breakfast just fair. Room in the main building very nice.
Stayed off season, on a weekday, in the lodge instead of the main house. Our room was clean and comfortable but the whole lodge smelled musty and stale. View was absolutely gorgeous and hands down the best part of the stay. The breakfast was very typical of a basic hotel with juices, Keurig machine, assorted toast/bagels and granola with yogurt. Overall very basic and solid, not alot of soul or extras that I would hope for from a bed and breakfast. Very conviniently right across from Tanglewood.
